How do I extinguish my fire pit?
Troubleshooting

WHY IS MY FIRE PIT NOT LIGHTING?

If your El Fuego fire pit isn’t lighting, try placing a ball of newspaper or a paper towel into the melted wax between the drum and the wick. This helps the wax melt completely and allows the wick to ignite. You only need to do this on the first burn.

Has your refill been broken or damaged in transit?

Occasionally, due to the nature of this product and transportation method, your fire pit refill may arrive broken. Despite this, the refills are still good to burn; the wax is fine. If still possible, keep in wrapping paper. If not, follow these instructions:

What do I do if my refill is broken?

Step 1: Collect the broken pieces together for the next lighting. Don’t throw them away.
Step 2: Place the broken pieces on the outside of the wick to melt when lit, adding more burn time to your fuel.
Step 3: Make sure not to let them sit on the wick! This could put it out.

Yes, but be cautious since the drum gets very hot. As with most fire pits, we recommend placing heat-resistant tiles or an El Fuego Base underneath the burner when using it on grass or wooden decking to prevent scorching.
There are 14.3 lbs of wax. The top layer that’s burning turns to liquid (similar to a regular candle), while the rest remains solid until the last hour.
No! You need to use the initial 12-hour container, or you can purchase the Fire Pit Drum. When it’s empty, just drop the refill into the empty container and use it again.
We recommend that after 2-3 burns, you clean out all residue from the drum so it will be ready to use again.
It’s made of 100% biodegradable vegetable wax, sustainably sourced from recommended, audited suppliers.
We don’t recommend it, as they could tip over. Once placed in the burner, they are more secure and much safer.
The El Fuego is made from a composite called MGO, designed to withstand the extreme heat produced by our candles. After the first burn, you might notice some cracks or bubbles, but this is purely cosmetic and won’t affect the structure. We recommend extending the legs underneath the fire pit to the maximum height to ensure consistent airflow, which helps keep the chamber cooler. This is normal. The extreme heat causes movement between hot and cold, but the composite is built to handle this without affecting performance. Like chimeneas and ceramic ovens, cracks may appear over time. The Fire Drum, which sits inside the top rim, helps protect the sides, keeps everything neat, and enhances the flame. When the fire is out and the table top is placed on the fire pit, the blackened top portion won’t be visible. After all, it’s a fire pit, and like a kitchen oven, they’re never pristine.
The Crop Candle Company is part of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain and sits alongside the likes of Marks and Spencers and Waitrose. We provide UK vineyards with an eco friendly solution with our Crop Candles that heat up vineyards during the frost season to protect the bud freezing frost. The 30,000 kJs/hr of heat produced such an amazing flame and heat that we decided to design a casing which would be safe for consumers to use the candle in a sociable environment. We called it the El Fuego Fire Pit; the world’s first wax alternative fuel for domestic use. Now with a secured patent, the El Fuego is now going global. Due to its incredibly low CO2 emission and no wood smoke pollution, it is making a new revolution in the firepit community. We plan to have new designs cooing out soon, so watch this space.
